The things that you should look out for to determine if your baby may suffer from Flat Head Syndrome are:

» a flattening in the back or side part of the head along with a protrusion in the forehead;

» the head’s shape resembling a parallelogram;

» a bald or flattened spot at the back or side;

» the eyes appearing asymmetrical.

Flat Head Syndrome can be prevented and is not difficult to treat if identified early enough. If identified in time, then the baby’s head could well be reshaped by the time he/she is six months old. If your baby is older than six months old correction may be more challenging.

Always seek medical advice if you notice any change in the shape of your baby’s head.
